What does it really mean to farm sustainably?

All farming activity effects the environment, including aquaculture. Sustainable farming means actively managing an agriculture or aquaculture operation with the goal of minimizing environmental impact to acceptable levels. There are many factors to consider when farming fish sustainably, such as water quality, waste treatment, and keeping the farmed species from escaping into the wild. Sustainable aquaculture accomplishes these goals with a combination of know-how, technology, and good management practices.
